This Irish blogger lost a whopping 17 pounds in one week

Rosemary MacCabe shared the news on Instagram this morning.

FOR THE PAST week or so, Irish blogger and journalist Rosemary MacCabe has been documenting her journey at No. 1 Bootcamp, a fitness and weight loss camp in Ibiza.

Attendees at the camp are put through their paces with gruelling exercise and sparse meals, as MacCabe has illustrated on Instagram and Snapchat (rosemarymaccabe).

Here are some of the teeny-tiny meals participants were treated to.

*tummy rumbles*

While the setting was undeniably stunning, it wasn’t always a picnic, with MacCabe describing it as “as a “shock to the system”.

There’s something very challenging about being in a really sunny climate, seeing blue skies – and a gorgeous pool – and forcing yourself to exercise and eat hardly anything. Ordinarily I’d be eating all around me, smoking my head off (last time I took a holiday I was still a smoker) and doing as little physical activity as I could get away with, so this bootcamp lark is a serious shock to the system!

Fortunately, the whole thing seems to have paid off with MacCabe revealing this morning that she lost a fairly astonishing 17 pounds over the course of the week.

MacCabe shared the news on Instagram this morning where she has been inundated with likes and well wishes. This morning, she told DailyEdge.ie that she was completely taken aback by the weight loss.

Eh, I was totally shocked. I had expected that I could’ve lost maybe 10lbs, because I felt leaner and my clothes fit better but I would never have guessed that it would be 17! Also I was really surprised throughout the week at how much activity I could do on so little food – around 1200 calories a day. I was really hungry but still managed to do all of the activities, even if I felt like death.
I kind of realised a lot of things that my body was capable of.

MacCabe will be writing a feature on her experience for Irish Country Magazine, as well as posting about it on her own blog, in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, we’ll just be over here sucking in.
